PENDANG, Dec 19 (Bernama) -- More than 200 entrepreneurs from small and medium industries (SMIs) are participating in the Carnival Silaturahim and Trade Expo 08 (KARSEP 08) launched at the Pendang Mini Stadium here last night.The participants are using the three-day Carnival and Trade Expo to project their products onto the international stage.The Sultan of Kedah, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu`adzam Shah, graced the occassion and launched KARSEP.Before leaving, the Sultan also visited the stalls which displayed various products.Also present was the member of the Kedah Committee for Industries and Investment,Science, Innovation and Entrepreneur Development, Amiruddin Hamzah who represented the Menteri Besar, the chairman of the KARSEP secretariat Mohd Shakri Abdul Razak and other government officials.Mohd Shakri said KARSEP, jointly sponsored by Pasaraya Pendang Sdn.Bhd and Jentayu Communication and Events, gave space for SMI entrepreneurs to expand their market while enhancing the quality of products to enable them to more easily access the global market."The quality of contents and packaging of a particular product is very important for it to compete and stay in the market longer with the ability to progress."This is an opportunity now all concerned to enhance the quality of their products," he said.He said that KARSEP can be developed into a platform for SMI entrepreneurs under the patronage of Yayasan Tekun, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development to forge a relationship with others who can provide advise related to the marketing of products.-- BERNAMA
